The curriculum includes Dr. Sophia Yin’s original towel wrap techniques, as well as new and updated information on interpreting feline body language to determine appropriate handling strategies. The course focuses on practical skills and decision-making tools, equipping participants to create patient-centered experiences for cats in their care.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Accurately interpret feline body language using a Green, Yellow, Red system to assess emotional states in real time.
  2. Apply a range of towel wrap techniques, such as the Burrito and Blanket wraps, to handle cats safely and humanely.
  3. Select the most appropriate handling approach for various clinical scenarios, including when to consider minimal handling or sedation.
  4. Describe why aversive tools (such as muzzles, cat bags, and gloves) should be avoided, according to modern feline-friendly guidelines.
  5. Explain the fundamentals of Cooperative Care training, supporting long-term voluntary participation when a towel wrap may be needed.
